The instant Sherry and Carston meet, there’s desire and fascination in the air…but they’re complete opposites.
Smart-talking Sherry fought her way up from poverty to stardom as a country music singer. Now, she’s ever in the limelight, ever surrounded by clamoring fans, male admirers, and paparazzi, and her spangled cowboy boots carry her all across the country, from one brightly lit stage to the next.
A renowned but reclusive playwright, Carston cherishes his freedom, the silence of his home in the woods, and his solitary country walks. Any long-term commitment is obviously out of the question: how about a quick and passionate fling?
But when their names are linked in the scandal press, Sherry’s plans to become an actress are revealed. Is their budding relationship doomed?

This author writes the most unique and endearing romances that revolve around older/mature characters. So, if that's what you're looking for then you need to add this author to your stalking pile... she is a wonderful writer.
In this book... the sophisticated playwright meets the famous country music singer... not a match you would expect to work but somehow she made it happen.
Sherry Valentine has had a very successful career as a country music singer. But, she's getting tired of the fast paced artificial lifestyle she has always played to keep her fans happy. So, she's decided to walk away from being a traveling singer to dipping her toes into acting.
Carston Hewlett is a successful playwright and quite happy living a life of solitude and enjoying his bachelor status.
These two come together by accident when they both end up hosting performances at the same arts festival. It didn't take long for Sherry's agent Charlie to warm up to the idea of her getting to know Carston better for the sake of her potential acting career. Charlie is one of those characters you love and hate at the same time. He's all business but you can also tell that he does care for Sherry, in his own pushy, self serving way. :)
Carston and Sherry definitely had made casual assumptions about the other in the beginning. But, as they got to know each other better they began to realize that there was an undeniable attraction that they couldn't resist. And, once they began to peel away the layers of gossip, makeup and facades... they realize there was so much more beneath the surface. Carston was just a simple person with simple needs... and, Sherry met him at just the right time in her life, when she was in need of the same. Yep... a perfect match indeed...
A very delightful story... low on steam but high on entertainment! I also enjoyed her previous book... All About Charming Alice And she has a new one coming out soon called Felicity's Power... I'll be reading that one soon!

Born in New York, raised in Toronto, J. Arlene Culiner has spent most of her life in England, Germany, Turkey, Greece, Hungary and the Sahara. She now resides in a 400-year-old former inn in a French village of no real interest. Much to everyone's dismay, she protects all living creatures -- especially spiders and snakes -- and her wild (or wildlife) garden is a classified butterfly and bird reserve.
